She’s never felt at ease.
She’s never felt like she’s belonged or ever had a home to return to.
She’s never felt content with herself.
As if everyday she couldn’t stand to live in her own skin.
She’s never felt good enough.
Pretty enough. Smart enough.
Not even for her own family.
But what she’s also never done,
Is see herself through my eyes.
She’s never seen herself sleep at night,
Where she’s content and sound asleep in my arms, lost in her dreams.
She has never realized that when she’s lost or broken down,
She comes to me. She comes home.
She just didn’t notice that her heart always brought her to where she belonged. That she had a home right here all along.
Her scars stopped appearing on her arms because she has my hands to hold and to keep hers warm.
She’s never learned to see herself the way I do.
Her mind battles her every move.
Shes never realized that when staring into my eyes, she sees herself and her future with me.
She sees her beauty and her potential.
She sees us and our family.
She feels content, safe and happy.
She has never realized that the word “never” does not even apply to her life.
She was just too busy trying to find reasons that it could.
Or having her mind convince her that it should.
But the only place the word seems to make sense,
Is how she never stopped herself from falling in love with me.
Through all of her battles and days she didn’t think she was good enough for anything..
She was the one who never allowed herself to believe that she deserved anything less than perfect.
I just hope I can be that for her..
Because I’ll never be able to stop falling in love with her.

eat poorly, go to parties, dance,
drunk text your ex, kiss your friends,
smile at strangers, draw flowers on math notes,
hug your father, watch movies with your mother,
write poetry, talk to boys at gas stations,
hug your pillow, sing into brushes,
collect seashells, make bracelets,
pull at flowers, end friendships,
make new ones, buy fresh fruit,
forget your homework, put your feet in the river,
go to the zoo, pretend you’re a lion,
bathe in sunlight, hold hands with shy boys,
forgive others, forgive yourself,
laugh, scream, run,
— you’ll never be younger than now (via 0vertaking)
